Leading the System: Principal Decision-Making in an RtI System

A Full-Day Learning Experience for Principals and another member of their school team

Wednesday, February 4, 2026  Free - Part of Principal Leadership Institute

Purpose:
A focused day for principals to evaluate their RtI system, align resources, and lead the next steps that ensure every student gets the right support.

Morning: Evaluate and Reflect

  • Learn the key elements of A Roadmap for the Right Work: The RtI Pyramid
  • Define what RtI is and is not
  • Assess your current system using the RtI Pyramid rubric
  • Ground discussions in your winter screening data

Goal: Understand where your RtI system stands and what’s working.

Afternoon: Lead the Right Work

  • Review available academic, behavioral, and staff resources
  • Decide how to best use time and personnel at each tier
  • Identify your next concrete action aligned to your School Improvement Plan

Goal: Leave with a clear, realistic plan for your next leadership moves.

Who Should Attend

Principals are encouraged to bring one team member who helps make RtI decisions—such as a school psychologist, instructional coach, or guiding-coalition member—and have access to winter screening data.

“RtI isn’t a program—it’s a leadership system that ensures every student receives the right work.”
