Description

This follow-up session is designed for principals, and their “learning buddies,” who participated in Leading the System: Principal Decision Making in an RtI System and are ready to take the next leadership step—moving from system design into collective ownership.

Based on exit-ticket feedback from the original session, nearly all principals—and their learning partners—identified a need for additional support in building and developing effective guiding coalitions and ensuring collective responsibility within their schools. This follow-up session is a direct response to that feedback.

The focus of this session is on the human side of system leadership. Participants will dig into how to intentionally build trust with a guiding coalition, clarify the why behind collective responsibility, and plan for how to lead meaningful conversations with staff about shared ownership for student learning.

Through reflection, discussion, and practical planning, principals will:

  • Examine the role of trust in effective guiding coalitions

  • Strengthen their approach to building and developing a guiding coalition

  • Clarify the purpose and importance of collective responsibility in an RtI system

  • Identify leadership moves that promote ownership rather than compliance

  • Develop a plan for addressing collective responsibility with staff in a way that fits their school context

This session is best suited for principals who are actively leading RtI work and want to ensure the system is not only well designed—but collectively owned.  Lunch will be provided.
