BHSS Pre-Conference F: Trauma-Informed Leadership in Action
with Dr. Marci Waldron-Kuhn, CESA 7
Wed, Dec 10, 2025 12:30pm-3:30pm
Session Description: This session will explore the intersection of trauma-informed leadership, trauma-sensitive schools, and social-emotional learning (SEL), equipping leaders with evidence-based strategies to create resilient, supportive learning environments. Participants will examine how trauma-informed leadership fosters a school culture that prioritizes safety, relationships, and emotional regulation for both students and staff. By embedding SEL competencies into leadership practices, educators can enhance student engagement, well-being, and academic success. The session will also highlight evidence-based strategies such as restorative practices, co-regulation techniques, and resilience-building frameworks to support school-wide transformation. Leaders will gain practical tools to implement trauma-sensitive approaches that align with systemic supports for equity and inclusion. Through discussion and hands-on application, participants will develop a leadership action plan to integrate trauma-responsive strategies into their schools or districts. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how trauma-informed leadership connects to SEL and creates sustainable change. This session is ideal for school leaders, instructional coaches, and educators committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-achieving learning community.
